Frequently Asked Questions
How does Bright Voices work? It's simple — you fill in our referral form with some details about your child and your concerns. We'll then match you with a qualified Speech and Language Therapist in your area and get in touch to arrange your first session. We handle all the admin and payments so you can focus on your child.
Who are your therapists? All therapists working through Bright Voices are qualified, HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapists and members of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). They all hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate. We verify all of this before any therapist works with a family.
Where do sessions take place? Sessions are typically delivered in your home, so there's no need to travel. Depending on your child's needs and your therapist's availability, sessions may also take place in school, a nursery, or another community setting.
How much does it cost? Our session fees are clearly displayed on our pricing page. All sessions are paid for in advance by card through our website. We also offer block bookings if you'd like to book multiple sessions together.
How do I pay? All payments are made securely online by card through our website, powered by Stripe. We don't store any card details — these are handled entirely by Stripe.
How quickly can we get started? This depends on therapist availability in your area. Once you submit your referral form we aim to be in touch within 2 working days, and we'll work to get your first session booked as quickly as possible.
What age children do you work with? We work with children and young people aged 0–18 years.
What kind of difficulties do your therapists support? Our therapists work across a wide range of speech, language, and communication needs, including speech sound difficulties, language delay and disorder, stammering, social communication difficulties, autism, selective mutism, and more. If you're unsure whether we can help, just get in touch and we'll let you know.
What happens at the first session? The first session is usually an assessment, where the therapist will spend time getting to know your child and understanding their communication strengths and needs. Following the assessment, the therapist will discuss their findings with you and agree a therapy plan going forward.
Do I need a GP referral? No — you can refer your child directly through our website. There's no need for a GP letter or NHS referral.
What if we need to cancel a session? We ask for at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or rearrange. If you cancel with more than 24 hours' notice you'll receive a full refund. For cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice, the full session fee may be charged at the therapist's discretion. Full details are in our Cancellation & Payment Policy.
Is everything confidential? Yes — all information you share with us and your therapist is kept strictly confidential and stored securely in line with UK GDPR. The only exception is if your therapist has a safeguarding concern about your child's welfare, in which case they have a legal duty to report this to the appropriate authority. This is a requirement for all professionals working with children.
